Once a solitary figure on the streets, Buka, a Greek Shepherd mix, chose to befriend a pair of tourists enjoying a cycling trip. For three days, he was their constant companion – sharing their campsites, meals, and keeping pace with their bikes. His impeccable manners seemed to be his way of seeking a forever home. Upon reaching southern Greece, the tourists, smitten by Buka, reached out to Greek Stray ResQ for assistance. Thanks to our network of incredible volunteers, we managed to bring Buka to a safe foster home, which soon turned into his forever home.
“Buka greeted me with an enthusiastic tail wag and a spirited attitude. He settled in swiftly, often spending nights curled up with me and his furry siblings, though he’s most content outdoors, vigilantly guarding his domain and his pack. True to his breed’s traits as a flock protector, he’s a mix of loyalty and tenacity, with a gentle side that commands respect. While he cherishes all my dogs, I’d like to believe I hold a special place in his heart. Now a robust 42 kg of muscle and personality, Buka can be a handful, but with consistent patience and a stable environment, he’s thrived. He’s become an integral part of our pack, and we can’t fathom life without him.”
